Plans for a new family life center aimed at expanding youth and family services in Madison are moving forward after MTZ Charitable Organization Inc. received a $1 million donation from Ascendium Education Group.

“We see constantly that a lot of kids need more support. Families need more support,” said Dr. Marcus Allen of MTZ Charitable Organization Inc. “Housing is a major thing but also look at economics; jobs are very important for people. And so, what we do here at MTZ Charitable is try to fill those gaps. Try to meet those needs and try and help wherever we can.”

“A lot of our families who come to our learning center, they visit our counseling center and a lot of them take part of the food pantry,” said Terra Allen, Director of the Academic Learning Center, Allen said. “So, it’s just a great way to just kind of bridge all those programs together.” Read more
